Beep Beep!. We are introducing a new club league for all members and all abilities. It is explained in detail on the next page and should be a bit of fun and help people improve by providing some motivation! As the league categories are based on your mile pace over 5k the first league run will also be the 5k TT on the last Thursday of the January , the 28th. This will enable us to place people in the correct category. The league table will appear after the first results in the top menu.Lakeshore Striders Running League
This idea behind this league is to reward runners of all abilities unlike other running races where only the fastest runners are awarded prizes.
The league will take place for the duration of the calendar year (January to December) and will take the format of one specific run per month (12 in total). At the conclusion of each race, each finisher will be awarded points based on their finish place. The points scoring system is explained below in more detail. To qualify for a runner of the year prize a runner must have completed at least 7 races (race length/type/date will be notified at the beginning of each month by email and posted onto website).
The athletes in each of nine categories with the highest point totals at the end of the year will win their perspective league category (if form improves a runner may be placed into a different category with point adjustment). The nine categories are:
Categories are based on 5k mile pace: E.g. if you ran a 5k in 20 min your mile pace is 6m 26s (use pace converter)
Group A: 0:00 – 6:30 (roughly sub 20 pace) Group B: 6:30 – 7:30 (roughly 20 - 23 min pace) Group C: 7:30 – 9:30 (roughly 23 - 30 min pace) Group D: 9:30 – 12:00 (roughly 30 - 37 min pace) Group E: 12:00+ (roughly 37+ min pace)
Scoring System
The total score for each athlete will consist of points earned from races completed.
There are THREE WAYS to earn points:
1. Performance: Placing in an approved race against league members within the same category. The first place man and woman will always get 100 points and the last place person will always get 20 points. Everyone else will be evenly spaced in between. The formula used to determine points scored in each race is: (T-Y/T-1)*80+20 where T = the total number of league members in the race and
2. Set a Personal Record in a league race (compared with previous similar run) = 10 pts max.
3. Participate in a league race. Participating = 10 points |
